Abstract

Excessive media use among children has become a growing concern, particularly due to its potential to cause media addiction. The internet, as the most dominant medium among children and adolescents today, is increasingly accessible through smartphones, not only in urban areas but also in rural regions. This condition necessitates the enhancement of parents' digital parenting competencies, enabling them to supervise and guide their children's media consumption effectively through the use of digital tools. Educational institutions at all levels play a vital role in fostering awareness and strengthening parental capacities in this domain. In rural contexts, teachers serve as opinion leaders who are instrumental in disseminating digital parenting practices. Furthermore, early childhood educators must be equipped with digital literacy skills, especially in utilizing parenting tools, so they can transfer these skills to parents and the broader community. This community service initiative aimed to improve digital literacy and parenting skills among early childhood education (PAUD) teachers in South Lampung Regency. A total of 34 participants engaged in counseling and training activities. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants' knowledge and skills, with increases ranging from 23% to 74%. The high level of enthusiasm and participation further demonstrated the relevance and effectiveness of the program. These findings suggest that ongoing community-based interventions are essential to enhance parents' ability to utilize digital tools, thereby minimizing the risk of media addiction and the negative impact of excessive media exposure on children and adolescents.
