Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has transformed research methods across various disciplines. This community service activity aims to enhance communication science lecturers’ understanding and use of AI for research. Held on May 9, 2025, through a collaboration between the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Lampung and the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) Lampung, this training involved 20 communication science lecturers. The training used an interactive method that combined lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice in using various AI-based research tools. Pre-test and post-test evaluations were conducted to measure the effectiveness of the training. The results showed a significant increase in understanding with an average score increasing from 58.5 (pre-test) to 82.3 (post-test), or an increase of 40.68%. Participants demonstrated increased competence in utilizing AI tools for literature review, data analysis, academic writing assistance, and misinformation detection in digital research. This training successfully equipped academics with essential AI literacy skills for conducting more efficient and effective research in the digital era.
